Recently, AIROSD provided advanced constant temperature solutions for a major agricultural industrialization national key leading enterprise in Anhui, referred to as the "Golden Turtle Enterprise." This project encompassed 48 turtle and tortoise farming greenhouses covering an area of approximately 32,800 square meters. The solution not only introduced technological innovations and revitalized the aquaculture base but also served as a demonstration model for rural revitalization efforts.
Project Background and Requirements
The “Wuwei Grass Turtle” is a geographical indication product of Anhui Province. These turtles are highly valued, with their shells, blood, and gallbladders used for medicinal purposes, while their meat and eggs are known for their delicious taste and enjoy high market demand. Anhui Lantian Agricultural Group, located in Wuwei City, Anhui Province, is a leading enterprise integrating quality turtle and tortoise breeding, large-scale farming, aquatic product processing, leisure tourism, and science education.
The group adheres to the development philosophy of "green growth, improving quality and efficiency." It has built over 3,500 acres of standardized turtle and tortoise farming ponds, 18,000 acres of rice-turtle integrated farming areas, and three national-level aquaculture demonstration sites. With an annual production of over 1,600 tons of commodity turtles, it is one of the largest bases for turtle and tortoise breeding, eco-farming, and deep processing in East China and even across the country.
As cold-blooded animals, temperature is a critical factor for the survival and growth of turtles and tortoises. Their metabolic rate is closely related to environmental temperature. Fluctuations in temperature significantly affect their growth, reproduction, and recovery from illnesses. Typically, turtles and tortoises exhibit optimal growth rates when the water temperature is maintained between 28–32°C, where their metabolic levels are relatively high.
To modernize and enhance the efficiency of turtle and tortoise farming and meet the growing market demand for high-quality aquaculture products, Anhui Lantian Agricultural Group conducted extensive evaluations and selected 18 units of AIROSD's Model 170 specialized ultra-low-temperature air source heat pumps for aquaculture. These systems brought transformative improvements to their farming operations.
The project involves turtle and tortoise farming ponds with a total area of 32,800 square meters, divided into 48 constant-temperature greenhouses. The water pools require 700 cubic meters of fresh water daily, maintained at a temperature of 32°C.
Project Design
Faced with the large-scale farming area and complex temperature control requirements, AIROSD leveraged years of technical expertise and service experience to conduct in-depth analysis and planning across all aspects, including constant temperature requirements, water temperature demands, heating methods, and installation locations.
Based on the analysis of the greenhouse structure, insulation measures, and operational habits, the maximum constant heating load for the farm was designed at 40W per square meter, resulting in a total load of 1,312 kW.
To minimize heat loss and ensure consistent water temperatures with evenly distributed heat, the system uses galvanized steel pipes for heat transfer. These pipes are insulated with thick rubber-plastic insulation boards. The terminal components of the greenhouse heating system utilize water source air heaters for air heating. The water inlet temperature for the heaters is set at 45°C, while the return water temperature is 38°C, ensuring the system meets the specific needs of turtle and tortoise farming.
